Had a minor realisation today that television is elevator music for the home, something to help ease the discomfort and isolation in the environment. Gone are the days where one could drop into a public house (this is also due to my self-judgement/introversion) and find company, or eavesdrop into conversations more interesting than that offered by tv personalities. Today’s pubs, for me, don’t have that community feel… more of a place for overpriced kilojules.
